Next in my series of natural wedding photography posts is this image of a rather bored looking flowergirl! This was taken at Helen and Paul’s Crook Hall wedding in Durham. This image is all about two things – the priceless expression and that wonderful window light.
The Medieval Hall at Crook Hall gets some absolutely amazing light through the windows when the sun is low in the sky. Huge beams of lovely natural sunlight help create the magical atmosphere you see in this shot. As you can see from the direction of the beams of light that are visible, the little girl was quite heavily back-lit. Fortunately there was enough good light coming through from the windows behind me to light her from the front. As the light from these windows was not direct sunlight it provided that lovely, diffused warm glow.
Children often provide some of the best candid moments during weddings. It’s often worth keeping a close eye on what they’re up to! This shot was taken a couple of years ago but still remains one of my all time favourites.
